Graveyard Keeper 2's review window opened on September 14, 2026, eight days before launch, and the seven scores that landed in that window spread wide enough that the spread itself is the story: the same game that one outlet calls "a fantastic sequel that delivers in almost every way" is, to another, "laborious and filled with unnecessary and unoptimised grind". Both are quoted in full context below. This page does not score the game itself.
The scores
| Outlet | Score | Date |

| Gameliner | 80/100 | September 15, 2026 |
| Shacknews | 70/100 | September 14, 2026 |

| SteamDeckHQ | 70/100 | September 18, 2026 |
| The Wand Report | 40/100 | September 14, 2026 |
Seven outlets, an average of roughly 71. Note the dates: reviews ran before launch, which is standard review-code practice and not an error in the dates.
The case for
DualShockers (85): "A fantastic sequel that delivers in almost every way." The review's highlight lines praise "Fantastic Writing and Mystery" and "Interesting Automation Mechanics", with the writing "now fully voice-acted and can be reverted to the mumbles from the original" (that switch is confirmed in the official FAQ too). Its con list is the honest complement: "Some bugs that prevent the use of core mechanics" and "old-school game design that wears a bit thin later in the game."
GameSpew (80): the production carries it: "The actors on board all do a fantastic job, with a range of regional UK accents offering the game a great deal of character", and "thanks to a gorgeous and charming (if grizzly) world, it's easily forgiven."
The case against
The Wand Report (40): "Laborious and filled with unnecessary and unoptimised grind, Graveyard Keeper 2 maintains every issue of its predecessor and magnifies them." The review's structural complaint: "You simply work things out by grinding more points and stumbling upon new technology... There's no diversion; nothing to break up the grind."
Shacknews (70): unconvinced by the comedy the series runs on, comparing the skull companion's banter to a Planescape: Torment homage and finding the hour cost hard to justify.
SteamDeckHQ (70): measured rather than argued: the game is playable on Deck with full controller support, but "the optimization right now feels woefully undercooked", with sub-60 frame rates indoors, mid-30s outdoors and a batch of bugs at review time. Update 1.005 (September 24) specifically lists performance fixes, so date-stamp any performance claim you read, including ours.

The Steam player picture
The developer's September 24 sales post reports 84 percent positive on Steam alongside 400,000 copies sold as of the same date. Player-visible complaints in that window mirror the press split: bugs and performance on one side, the automation and Town loop on the other.

How to read this page
Scores are reproduced with dates and links; quotes are from the reviews' published text; the Steam figure is the developer's own number. We do not aggregate a "real" score, and we do not average away the 40. If you want the practical version of the performance concerns, the system requirements page carries them; if the grind criticism is your worry, the tips page is the pacing triage.
